Uncle Bob was a remarkable man as he was able to work, including driving and boating as well as caravaning all with one arm, as he had lost his right arm (I think) in an accident some years before I knew him. Bob would regularly hitch up the caravan (a roundish plywood box frame) and take aunty Violet on holidays.
Aunty Violet was Dad's older sister, I remember visiting Aunty Violet the most our of all dad's family. In the 1960's mum, dad and I would spend a holiday at Karuah staying in their home. One Christmas holiday sticks in my mind as particularly enjoyable. I was playing with my new Hornby train set on the front verandah of their home whilst mum, dad, aunty Violet and uncle Bob caught up over a cup of tea. In the mid 1970's I would met up with Aunty Violet every Wednesday after sport. It was a chance meeting at first but after a couple of weeks we both knew that we could and would catch up at the top end of Maitland's main street (High Street). Wednesday was Aunty Violets day in town shopping before returning to Beresfield where she was now living with her daughter Beryl and Beryl's husband Mev (aka Pop) Edwards, and daughter Debbie.

Robert had a relationship with Violet Warby, daughter of Albert John Watman and Sarah Mary Warby. (Violet Warby was born on 29 Feb 1908 in Silver Spur, Queensland Australia, died on 11 Nov 1987 in Beresfield, NSW Australia and was buried on 13 Nov 1987 in Newcastle crematorium, Beresfield, NSW Australia.)
