  General Notes:

Ken Gray notes:
MEMOIR by Mrs. KATE (SHEPHERD) HINES.
ESTER GRAY.
ESTER GRAY was a person of unusual excellence of strength of character. She was calm, self-controlled and strong, of deep piety, strong convictions and high ideals. At her solicitation her husband built a church on his farm near Stafford, Ohio which he gave to the Baptist denomination to which she belonged. This church she practically supported for many years. It was her custom to take the people who came from a distance, to her home for dinner Sundays. Her store-room on Saturday nights was filled to overflowing, and was a sight too good to behold. Her influence in that locality was good, strong and lasting. She was buried in the little burial ground by the church on the old farm, surrounded by five generations of Hines - Joseph and Elizabeth (Coe) Hines, her husband's parents, her husband, children, grand-children and great grand-children. "Let her own works praise her in the gates".

Esther married Joseph Hines. (Joseph Hines was born on 16 Jan 1812 in Virginia USA and died on 2 Apr 1885 in Monroe County, Ohio USA.). The cause of his death was consumption.
