Ernest Arthur Bellamy served his apprenticeship as a boilermaker at the once great Clyde Engineering. He moved to Babcock & Wilcox, arguably the world's largest boiler manufacturing company, when they started operations in Australia at Regent's Park in the 1920s. On June 26, 1923 he married Alice Annie Cleary (b. Nov 9, 1900 at Parramatta). They lived most of their lives in a blue-black brick cottage at 21 Albert Street, Parramatta (now a block of luxury apartments).

Ernest married Alice Cleary on 26 Jun 1923. (Alice Cleary was born on 9 Nov 1900 in Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia, died on 16 Jun 1969 and was buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Lidcombe, Sydney, NSW Australia Catholic Section.)
