Research Notes:
source: Christine Fairhall (nee Pearcey) who notes: Walter Oke Edye's first illegitimate children were with an Elizabeth (about 5 children) and then he married Charlotte during which time he had an affair with Mrs Pearcey and with her had little William "Oak", Arthur Edwin Pearcey, Herbert Augustus Pearcey, then twins John Edward and Henrietta Leonora Pearcey. Clearly Walter Oky Edye disguised his name on the registration of little William's birth whereas the records show Sarah Pearcey recorded the births of the subsequent children herself. Arthur Edwin Pearcey had a private school education and Walter Oke Edye also sent him to London University which has confirmed he paid the fees for Arthur. Arthur won prizes at school and did well at university studying classics. He came to Victoria in 1861. He married Jane Blackett, a cousin of the Sydney architect Edward Blackett who put the family crest on his buildings. My Blackett pedigree is known back to 1350 and on the Blackett distaff side back to before the Conquest, so to discover Arthur Edwin Pearcey was illegitimate was unexpected. I don't think my father would have coped with it especially with it going on to a website! Walter Oke Edye as you know was a lawyer as was my grandfather and father so it is appalling that Walter Oke Edye was untruthful on important documents.
Noted events in his life were:
