Noted events in his life were:

• source. Mary-Ann Cook & Christine Fairhall (nee Pearcey) who notes:
You may have noticed Walter had wards, one of whom, Arthur Edwin Pearcey, was my great grandfather. I crave a photograph of Walter - do you have one to share via email? I have a photograph which is absolutely delightful, labelled on the back, "Sheen, Mortlake" in my great grandfather's hand which I can share if you think it is relevant. It shows rather a grand domestic building and in the foreground are four people, a gentleman in an ecclesiastical cap, an old man who may be Walter, and two fat ladies in crinolines, one of whom may be his second wife, Abigali nee Blake. A local historian in Sheen was unable to identify the building so presumably it no longer stands. This photo also shows a lad sweeping leaves and a cockatoo on a stand. Abigail's sister, Mary Ann (Polly) went to India and became governess to the daughter of a maharajah, wrote amazing letters and is buried in Bangalore.

Arthur Edwin Pearcey whose parentage is ambiguous, came to Australia after university, having been well educated by Walter, and became a gold buying agent with Money Miller's Bank of Victoria during the Victorian gold rushes .

• note. Christine Fairhall (nee Pearcey) notes:
Walter Edye was an important London barrister, a Special Pleader which may mean he drafted appeals for defenders in court cases. He trained a judge or two and was a member of the Inns of Court, I think a member of Lincoln's Inn. His first wife was Charlotte Turner and her father, Thomas Turner of Exeter, with lawyers and an Exeter banker, Sanders, drew up a pre nuptial agreement to protect his daughter's property.
Walter Oke Edye's first illegitimate children were with an Elizabeth (about 5 children) and then he married Charlotte during which time he had an affair with Mrs Pearcey and with her had little William "Oak", Arthur Edwin Pearcey, Herbert Augustus Pearcey, then twins John Edward and Henrietta Leonora Pearcey. Clearly Walter Oky Edye disguised his name on the registration of little William's birth whereas the records show Sarah Pearcey recorded the births of the subsequent children herself. Arthur Edwin Pearcey had a private school education and Walter Oke Edye also sent him to London University which has confirmed he paid the fees for Arthur. Arthur won prizes at school and did well at university studying classics. He came to Victoria in 1861. He married Jane Blackett, a cousin of the Sydney architect Edward Blackett who put the family crest on his buildings. My Blackett pedigree is known back to 1350 and on the Blackett distaff side back to before the Conquest, so to discover Arthur Edwin Pearcey was illegitimate was unexpected. I don't think my father would have coped with it especially with it going on to a website! Walter Oke Edye as you know was a lawyer as was my grandfather and father so it is appalling that Walter Oke Edye was untruthful on important documents.

Walter married Charlotte Hodge Turner, daughter of Thomas Turner and Harriett Hodge Bryett, on 20 Oct 1828. (Charlotte Hodge Turner was born on 2 Mar 1796 in Exeter, Devon England and died on 30 Nov 1851 in Totnes, Devon England.)

Walter had a relationship with Sarah Pearcey (nee Carter). (Sarah Pearcey (nee Carter) was born circa 1820.)
