Mary Watts, one of 106 convicts transported on the ship 'Mary Ann' January 1791.
Sentence details: Convicted at Middlesex Gaol Delivery for a term of 7 years.
Vessel: Active, Albermarle, Atlantic, Barrington, Britannia, Mary Ann, Matilda, Salamander and William and Mary.
Date of Departure: January 1791.
Place of Arrival: New South Wales.
On 4 Mar 1790 William Baxter was sent to Norfolk Island aboard the ship 'Supply' and remained there until 5 Apr 1792, when he enlisted in the NSW Corps. On 11 Nov of that year a son by Mary Watts was baptised.
In Feb 1793 William was sent back to Norfolk Island. Mary did not accompany him and there is no evidence of any further association between the couple. In 1806 Mary was living with George Johnson and had two sons and a daughter.
Baxter served as a private on the island until Nov 1794, returning to Sydney aboard the ship 'Daedalus'.

Mary next married William Baxter circa 1791 in Norfolk Island Penal Settlement, NSW Australia. (William Baxter was born circa 1757 and was buried on 13 Aug 1830 in St Peters, Richmond, NSW Australia.)
