Marry Jane arrived in the colony on board the ship 'Shipley' as a free settler. Mary came to join her sister Sarah, Mrs Richard Dalton. The Dalton family had arrived in 1804 on the ship 'Experiment' and together with the family of Thomas Gordon, took up adjoining land grants at Richmond.

Mary married Charles Moltson Gordon, son of Thomas Gordon and Alice Smith, on 23 Apr 1821 in St Peters C of E, Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Charles Moltson Gordon was born on 27 Feb 1791 in St George Hanover Square, London, Middlesex England, christened on 27 Mar 1791 in St George Hanover Square, London, Middlesex England and died on 17 Apr 1862.)
