Noted events in his life were:

• source. This is THE Simon Farrow who notes:
I was brought up in Somerset by my grandmother, Margaret Priscilla Maynard (nee Newey).
I was born in Taunton in 1940 and am believed to be still alive in Kelowna, British Columbia.
I have done quite a lot of research into our family and its various branches, but the one person I am stuck on is Graydon Richard Maynard. You see, I am not sure that was his real name. He was a bigamist and died in prison (Parkhurst, on the Isle of Wight) of a brain infection in 1917. On the marriage certificate to my grandmother, he claimed to have been an American (address given: 1 Main Street, Los Angeles California; how phony is that!) but I haven't been able to trace him over there, or in England. I have spent countless hours on this. The most interesting thing I found was that there was a tombstone in a graveyard in New York City with that name on it, belonging to a young man who died in (I think) 1868 aged 12, and I have wondered if he appropriated the name from that. The reference had been on the internet, but alas I can find it no more. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
There does seem to be an Australian connection, too. He met my grandmother in about 1911 on a ship which had been travelling from Australia to England, and which she joined in Colombo, after working as a nanny for some time. The newspapers of the time gave interesting accounts of his trial in Reading, and funnily enough, an Australian paper picked up the story, but I have no idea why.
The print is difficult to read, but it's under the heading of "Wholesale Dealer in Love":
