  General Notes:

Widower at time of marriage to Margaret
Father - Richard
According to Simon Farrow Graydon was a bigamist and was already married when he married Margaret, not a widower! Name might not be actual name but lifted from gravestone.

Noted events in his life were:

• source. & Jane Perry who notes: Graydon Richard Maynard is his great grandfather, Simon visited Parkhurst prison on the Isle of White in the 90's and indeed found Graydons grave site through the help of records and the Warden at that time. The grave was unmarked. Simon has been able to find out through various newspaper reports that Graydon Richard Maynard was married three times. The first to a lady from London whom he took to New York, the second to Margaret Pricilla Newey (simon's grandmother) with whom he had two children, Charles John Maynard (1912) and Violet Gwendoline Maynard (1914) Simon's mother. His third wife was Charlotte Ellen Beck whom he married in 1916, however he changed his name for this marriage to James Parkinson. Charlotte was the woman who found him out and had him imprisoned for being a bigamist. As you can imagine for the Newey family this was shocking news and it was such a difficult time that the family never really talked about it. I understand that Margaret Pricilla Newey happened to be travelling by boat back from Ceylon during 1911 with a family that employed her as a domestic nurse, when she met Mr Maynard. She left this employment that year (1911) and married Mr Maynard in Ombersley Worc's.
The day after Mr Maynard was charged as a bigamist news came to her via policeman knocking on her door, who asked her to identify Mr Maynard/Mr Parkinson as her husband. (this part of the story was told to me by my mother in law).
Mr Maynard left Margaret with little money so she had to find work to support their two children. She once again became a domestic but unfortunately was only able only to take her daughter with her to her new employment, leaving her son Charles John Maynard, Jack as he was known, with her sister Florence Violet Newey (1882) in Ombersley, As you know Jack died by drowning at the age of 15 at a place called Holt Fleet, which indeed is near Ombersley Worcestershire.

Graydon married Margaret Priscilla Newey, daughter of Frederick Newey and Marrianne Elizabeth Thomas. (Margaret Priscilla Newey was born in 1886 in Ombersley, Worcestershire England.)

Graydon next married Charlotte Ellen Beck in 1916. (Charlotte Ellen Beck was born circa 1880.)
