Marilyn Mifsud notes:
The shipping list
<http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/BSA/1840Brightman.gif> has my ancestors William John Tucker WESTLAKE and wife Catherine nee Stumbles coming to Holdfast Bay (Glenelg), SA, and on the same ship are her brother Samuel and his wife Amelia and son Charles(died on voyage). I have searched SA bdm and found no further record of any STUMBLES, so I guess the child was buried at sea, before their arrival 13th December 1840. Your record suggests that Amelia died before Samuel left for Australia, but this would suggest she made it here, but they must have left immediately for Sydney (?) As for Samuel the younger, no record of him taking the journey, so perhaps he died in infancy, but he would have had to be born before 1840. The shipping list does not indicate that Amelia died on board, either. Catherine's husband William John Tucker WESTLAKE died five years after their arrival. I have sighted his death certificate at SAGHS, and under cause of death is shown the word "decline" ( perhaps TB?)

Amelia married Samuel Stumbles, son of William Stumbles The Younger and Catherine Wetherall, on 29 Jul 1839 in How St Dissenters' Chapel, Plymouth, Devon England. (Samuel Stumbles was born on 20 Aug 1816 in Stoke Damerel, Plymouth, Devon England, christened in How St Dissenters' Chapel, Plymouth, Devon England, died on 20 Jul 1889 in 20 Harbour St, Wollongong, NSW Australia and was buried in General Cemetery, Wollongong, NSW Australia.)
