Ordained Brixton Hill Chapel, 30 July 1839
Missionary in Samoa 1839-1845. Left England 3 Aug 1839, arriving Sydney Christmas Day 1839. Arrived at Tutuila, Samoa aboard the 'Camden' on 14 March 1840; one month later at Leone.
Returned to Sydney August 1842-January 1843 on account of his wife's serious illness (son William Henry, aged nearly 2, died on this return voyage. Took up post at Upola on return to Samoa. In 1845 the state of his wife's health compelled them to return to England, arriving 9 July 1846.
Minister at the Southfield Methodist Church, Paignton, Devon for two years
