General Notes: Known to be a wealthy man - according to daughter-in-law Eliza, in her reponse to William Adolphus Ellis' divorce petition, "according to repute is said to be worth upwards of one hundred thousand pounds". Noted events in his life were: • Occupation: Grazier at 'Oak Range', near Singleton, Hunter Valley NSW. • Religion: Arrived in Port Phillip district on the 'Robert Benn', 1842. William married Sarah Agnes Duff (Nee Hobden), daughter of Alexander Duff and Sarah McPhee, on 29 Sep 1852 in Jerry's Plains, Hunter Valley, NSW Australia. (Sarah Agnes Duff (Nee Hobden) was born on 22 Jan 1822 and died on 18 Oct 1872 in Jerry's Plains, Hunter Valley, NSW Australia.) |
