Nothing found of him after he left the Army in 1890--not on the 1891 census. Found him as a surveyor in Lancs. as a boarder with his wife in the house of one, John Horrocks. Address was: 103 Redearth Rd. Over Darwen. Later found him at 31 Heysham Shirley Soton. Hants. working as a surveyor for the Ordnance Survey Office.Found death of John. His sister Ann(i)e was present at the death. He was 57 and described as an Army pensioner. Cause of death: Bladder cancer.

John married Mary Ellen Nightingale, daughter of Unknown and Annie Nightingale. (Mary Ellen Nightingale was born in 1858 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire England.)
