Unfortunately, his wife Alice May HIRD (nee: EVEREST) died soon afterward when her young daughter Alice Lilian May Hird was only 3 years of age. Following this death, Henry Sydney John Hird and his young daughter Alice Lilian May Hird moved from Williamstown, Melbourne VIC to live in Sydney, NSW.
His address (some 17 years later as noted on his daughter's marriage certificate in 1920) was later noted "Born in Melbourne VIC, current occupation "Boilermaker, of Bourke Street, Sydney. NSW"
