This John Holland and his sister Elizabeth Holland I strongly believe to be artist from the Liverpool Academy between 1820-1840, with such works as ON THE NORTH SHORE LIVERPOOL. COTTAGES AT BOOTLE, THE WINDMILL, WEST FRONT OF YORK MINISTER, AND OGWEN LAKE NORTH WALES, also his sister ELIZABETH HOLLAND ca1806-1891 with works such as the WATER TOWER CHESTER,OAK TREES AT MABERLY [mobberly?] CHESHIRE, WATERMILL AT ABER N.WALES, Llanberis Lake [1827]. HANNAH SUSANNAH [SUSAN] HOLLAND ca1801-1859 the other sister was also very artistic. John Holland and his sisters would have spent much of their childhood in Cheshire mostly at Damhead House and farm in Mobberly near Knutsford. Their uncle John Holland 1752-1835 and his wife Susannah [Chapman] Holland 1758-1836 [both buried at Brooke St Chapel] lived at Damhead House. They had no children of their own but lots of aunts, uncles and cousins lived near by. His first cousin HONOUR CHAPMAN 1797-1863 seems to have spent some of her young life there as well. She was the niece from John's mother's side. Also their cousin Elizabeth Stevenson 1810-1865 who later became Mrs. Gaskell spent some of her childhood at Damhead House and farm [most of the land that was part of the farm now belongs to Tatton Park]. Their aunt was MARGRET HOLLAND ca1754-1842 of Mobberly, sister of Peter Holland who is also buried at Brooke St Chapel. A journal [or journals?] was brought from Richard Taylor, booksellers corner of Church St Liverpool in 1827. The pages are watermarked 'Whatman 1827.' It belongs to Honour Chapman.' John Holland married his first cousin Honour Chapman on the 22 April 1828 at St Annes church - Richmond St Liverpool where his occupation was given as artist. He was a farmer, Gentleman of Cambelwell,[ his wife had a half share in cottage at Cambelwell.] They had 4 children, the first being Robert Holland - Born in 1829 Peckham, Cambelwell.LOUISA HOLLAND ca1833-1898 born in Liverpool and JOHN 1837-1894 and HONOUR 1837-1857 [twins] born in Mobberly. John Holland inherited Damhead House and farm in Mobberly Cheshire on the death of his uncle also called John Holland who died in1835 - Buried at Brook St chapel. (Elder brother of Peter Holland.) John Holland seems to have spent the rest of his life farming at Damhead. He was a gentleman of Mobberly in 1854. He died on the 29 March 1855 and is buried at St Wilfred's parish church Mobberly. He is buried in the same grave as his 4x great grandfather William Holland, Buried 6 December 1654 who brought Damhead House and farm in 1650,[his wife Honour Holland is buried in the same grave ] also his son Robert Holland lies next to them with his first wife and young son Percy.
