  • Born: 14 Jul 1844, Collingwood, Melbourne, Victoria Australia
  • Marriage (1): Anne McLean
  • Died: 7 Mar 1913, Geelong, Victoria Australia at age 68
  • Buried: Kilmore General Cemetery, Victoria Australia

  General Notes:

It is believed that Richard was at one time the President of the Shire of Kilmore.
In his Will dated 9 March 1905, Richard directed that his ponyand the harness and cart belonging to it be given to his sonJames Henry. As to the balance of his Estate, he directed his Executors to sell this and, from the proceeds thereof, to pay£100 to his (second) wife Margaret, £50 to his adopted daughter May, £5 to the Kilmore Hospital, £5 to the Church of England, Kilmore, and the balance to be divided equally between his three sons James Henry, Allan and John Thomas. The latter two sons were appointed by him to be the Executors of his Estate.
Some time after Richard's death in 1913, John Thomas Goodman renounced his right to act as an Executor of his father's Will, leaving Allan as the sole Executor.
The sale of 247 acres of land and improvements at Kilmore realised £3,458 which, after the disbursement of the legacies and costs etc., left a balance of £3,285 to be shared by Richard's three sons. It would seem that the house and land at Geelong were retained, possibly for the benefit of Margaret and her daughter.
Unlike his siblings who were married, Richard has no living descendants.

Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: Farmer.

Richard married Anne McLean. (Anne McLean was born about 1834 in County Inverness, Scotland UK, died on 4 May 1901 in Kilmore, Victoria Australia and was buried on 5 May 1901 in Kilmore General Cemetery, Victoria Australia.)
