William Robert Sampson was born on the 6th June 1903 in Seaton, England. His father was a butcher and subsequently the family had meat with every meal. As a result of this Bill refused to eat meat as an adult. After Emily and Bill were married in 1935, they stayed with Emily's parents at the family property at Loch. Bill took over a lot of the work around the farm. They next moved to 40 Brumley Street, Leongatha. Emily and Bill moved to 14 Roughhead street, Leongatha in about 1949. They stayed there for some years until a neighbour became such a nuisance wanting to spend each and every day with Emily, that they moved to Inverloch for a couple of years. They didn't like it there as much as Leongatha and built a cottage in Hughes Street, Leongatha and moved back again. The house had a large garden and they grew most of their vegetables. Bill suffered a stoke and was admitted to hospital, he died a few days later on the 3rd of July 1977.
