Robert Henry Patterson enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 30/9/1915. His next of kin was his mother Mrs. Jane Patterson, Hay.
The Certificate of Medical Examination describes Robert as: - 23 years 10 months, height - 5 feet 3 inches, weight - 129 pounds, chest measurement - 35 inches, complexion - dark, eyes - hazel, hair - brown, religious denomination - Presbyterian. His distinctive marks were: - Vac marks right arm.
Robert fought in Egypt and France. He was admitted to hospital with Influenza on 12/12/1916.
He was also admitted on 9/1/1917 with myalgia and on 24/5/1917 with V.D. 28/5/1917 and was in hospital for 107 days.
Robert was promoted to Corporal on 31/1/1918, Sergeant 22/12/1918 and B.Q.M.S. on 27/4/1919. He was in hospital with conjunctivitis on 21/1/1919.
Robert returned to Australia from England per “Sirkopmund” He was once again in hospital during the trip, this time with Epidipnites. He was discharged on 25/9/1919.
