General Notes:
Ross Patterson notes: There was a family in Hay called Macclure that were very affluent and they took my grandmother in under the same roof after her mother's mental problems manifested themselves, and looked after her because she was part of their family, a cousin, till she was an adult. Her job in those days was a barmaid, and my father was proud of her. The hotel was part of the Macclure estate of which he established. Secondly I remember growing up in Hurstville/Kingsgrove my father often talked about the Macclures who also lived just around the corner from us. He often told me they were cousins. They had a very tall daughter I remember. One of his cousins was nicknamed 'Barney'. He was a little older than my father and a very senior police officer . I believe there still are some of the Wade family, my grandmother's family, left in Hay. Henry Barclay Maclure married my great grandmother's sister Janet Massie. My great grandmother's name was Jane Massie. She married William Patterson 1849
