CRUELTY TO A HORSE.
Before Messrs. M.J. O’Bryan, J. W. Clareborough, and Arthur Dunbar, J. P’s, at the South Melbourne court on Monday, Charles W. Buck, Oakleigh, was charged with having worked a horse under circumstances involving cruelty. Evidence was given that on March 14 defendant drove through South Melbourne a horse which had very sore shoulders. Defendant was fined 40/-, with 20/- costs.

Motor-van Strikes Tram
The North Melbourne and Brunswick tram services were disorganised yesterday afternoon when a motor-van collided with a cable tram at the intersection of a'Beckett and Elizabeth streets, city. The impact forced the dummy of the tram off the rails and broke the grip, but the dummy was replaced on the line after a quarter of an hour. By this time, however, many trams had banked up and it was some time before the services were back to normal in Elizabeth street The disabled tram was later towed back to the Brunswick depot. There were several passengers on the dummy at the time, but no one was injured The motor-van was owned by C. Buck of Paddington road, Oakleigh and was only slightly damaged by the collision.
