Phillip Island Auto Racing Club - September 2005.
PIARC lost one of its longest serving Directors this week with the death of Dave Cook. Dave was appointed to the Board of the club back in the nineteen-sixties, as the Phillip Island representative, and has served on the Board since that time. While not actively participating in the Board Meetings because of geography, Dave remained interested in the club and our activities and in recent years, when his health permitted, he would drop into our race meetings to check up on the “crew”.
Dave was well known on the Island as the Ampol Service Station, as the Toyota Dealer, and as the RACV centre. In these roles he was always supportive of the club and our competitors in our automotive needs right up until his retirement a few years ago.
The respect he was granted in the general community was reflected in the crowd of over two hundred persons who turned up to say farewell, and a number of club members joined them on this sad occasion.
On behalf of all, we pass on condolences from the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club to Dave's wife, Muriel, and to all the family.
David married Muriel. (Muriel was born circa 1930.)
