13 Known Dead In North Devon Flood
London, Monday.
It is feared that two Australian girls, Joyce Hiscock and Gwen Oxley may have been drowned in the floods at Lynmouth.
The two girls should have returned to their London flat from two weeks hike in the West Country.
Fears for their safety had grown since Miss Hiscock failed to report to her typist’s job in a London office this morning.

BODIES OF AUSTRALIAN GIRLS IDENTIFIED IN DEVON
London, Wednesday.
Two girls missing in the Devon flood disaster last week-end were identified to-day as Gwen Oxley, 23, and Joyce Hiscock, 22, who were Australians working in London.
Mystery of the two dead girls, known as Gwen and Joyce , was cleared up to-day when Ronald Catling, a soldier living in London, identified the bodies of the two girls.
They had been friends of Catling since he arrived in London in June from Melbourne.
The girls, who had gone hiking in the West Country, were apparently carried out to sea in the torrent of flood water which swept through Lynmouth from the moors above.
Their bodies were picked up at Ilfracombe, some miles away.

Ashes of Flood Victims To Be Flown Home.
London, Friday.
Soldiers worked alongside civilians last night preparing graves in which a number of the victims of the North Devon flood disaster are being buried today.
Coincident with the burials, a funeral service is being held to-day for the two Australian girls, whose bodies are being cremated and the ashes flown to Victoria.
Bodies of a mother and her 14 year-old son were taken to Bristol for cremation and the bodies of the two Australians, Gwen Oxley and Joyce Hiscock also will be cremated there.
Verdicts of accidental deaths were returned at inquests yesterday on the two Melbourne girls and ten other flood victims.
