Harold Fitzjohn Pearson enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 22/10/1917. He had been a student at Dookie College. His certificate of medical examination of the 8/10/1917 describes him as 18 years and five months, height - 5 feet 8 and a half inches, weight - 146 lbs, chest measurement 34/37 inches, complexion - fresh, eyes - grey, hair - brown and religious denomination - Church of England. He had four Vacs left arm (faint). he also had two joints first finger right hand off which happened when he was 7 years of age and he got it amputated. He served in the Australian Flying Corps and became a Lance Corporal. He was appointed as a Flying Officer (Pilot) on 7/12/1918 and became a Lieutenant on 7/3/1919. He stayed in England for the duration of his service and only received training. He returned to Australia per “H T Leicestershire” and disembarked 21/6/1919.
