David Marshall White enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 3/8/1916. His father was listd as his next of kin - David Hunter White. John Street, North Fremantle.
The Certificate of Medical Examination describes David as 32 years and 7 months, height - 5 feet 7 and a half inches, weight - 150 pounds, chest measurement - 37 an a quarter inches, complexion - fair, eyes - hazel, hair - brown an religious denomination - Presbyterian. His distinctive marks - scar on right side.
David was sent to France to fight. On the 11/2/1917 he was wounded in action and admitted to hosital with a gunshot wound to his hand and shoulder. He recovered and was sent back to the fighting. He was admitted to hospital again on 10/5/1917 with a servere gunshot wound to his left hand.
David was sent back to Australia on 14/9/1917 and was discharged on 3/5/1918
