John Fishlock served in the Wiltshire Constabulary for 27 years. Married twice. It is said his first wife bore him 13 children, of whom I can only identify 10, and his second wife - Emily Niblett bore 5 children. This marriage is in the register at Chippenham (Ref. C45/1/125). After retiring from the Police he worked for 16 years on Grove Farm, Yatton Keynell. The following is an extract from the record of his funeral in the local press in 1931: `The death took place on February 8th of Mr John Fishlock, after a long and painful illness, at the age of 78. As a young man he joined the Wiltshire Constabulary, in which he served 27 years. The first part of his career was spent at Ramsbury, after which he spent 19 years at Kington St Michael, and then three to four years at Colerne. After retirement he returned to Kington St Michael, and for 16 years was at Grove Farm, Yatton Keynell, in the employ of Mr Hulands.` John Fishlock`s cause of death was `cancer of the mouth`.
