  General Notes:

Calvin Warby notes:
Occupation Carpenter, immigrated 6 Mar 1836 in 'John Barry' (3) - Convict.
William: I hold his trial papers with a wanted poster offering £5 reward for his arrest. He was known as a notorious poacher, thief and deserter before he was given transportation to Australia. Sentenced at Jedburgh, Roxburgh SCOT., 16 September 1834, transported on 3rd voyage of the 'John Barry' leaving London ENG 17th January 1836. His records state his calling was 'only a tolerable carpenter'.
The Government Gazette of 1840, page 211, states William's 'Abscondment' from Eagleton NSW on 3 March 1840. He was then 'Apprehended and Arrested' at Raymond Terrace NSW on 9 April 1840 - Government Gazette 1840 page 351. He finally received his 'Certificate of Freedom' on 26 May 1843 as per Government Gazette 1843 page 729. Birrie Station was on the Culgoa River near Walgett NSW.
