The 1881 British census records Hubert as a 2 y.o. living at 35 Parsonage Walk, Newington Surrey with his parents and siblings and in 1891 he living with his family at 7 Lordship Lane Dulwich, and 1901 he is at 59 Nutfield Road, Camberwell Surrey.

It would seem that Hubert preferred older women as his two wives were older than he, Susan 8 years and Edith 12 years.
