Rhonda Thomas / Robertson & Lil Gogerly's notes where it is written that after his father's death, John Frederick decided to leave Port hacking in search of fresh fields and pastures new. thus in 1882 he made a home for his wife and family within the shadows of Booti Booti Hill between Wallis Lake and Elizabeth Beach.
He, like his brother, was a master mariner who survived many near death adventures at sea but who eventually was killed when crossing Wallis Lake on a stormy night after a fishing expedition.

• Occupation. His Certificate of Competency (service) Master Mariner, Coast, was granted on 31st January, 1873.

• Resided. in 1865 he lived at 1 Forbes St, Sydney.
From 1870 - 1877 they lived at Moon St Redfern, Sydney.


John married Mary Anne Alderton, daughter of Henry Baker Alderton and Mary Ann Holland, on 8 Jun 1869 in Balmain, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Mary Anne Alderton was born on 20 Oct 1849 in Kent St, Sydney, NSW Australia, christened on 28 Oct 1849 in St Andrews Cathedral, George St, Sydney, NSW Australia 702 and died on 31 Aug 1938 in Taree, NSW Australia 702.)
