Goes, Mrs. Susan Orr, Saginaw, Michigan.
Widow of Lyman J. Goes passed away Wednesday, March19, 1997 at Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 81 years. Susan Barbara Orr was born January 28, 1916 in Blanchard, Michigan, the daughter of the late Andrew William and Elsie Stiber Orr. the family moved to Saginaw in 1931 where Susan was graduated from Saginaw High School in 1934. While in high school she was a member of the Omega Society and served as its President. She also belonged to the Spinster Society. She was graduated from the University of Michigan in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and received her Master of Science Degree in 1939, doing extensive post graduate studies in later years. She was a member of the Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Sorority at the University of Michigan and was one of the founding members of the Saginaw Panhelienic Society. She taught senior math at Arthur Hill High School from 1938 to 1940. She married Mr. Goes August 16, 1940; he predeceased her March 12, 1997.
She had been a volunteer worker for the American Red Cross and C.D.V.O. during World War II, continuing other volunteer service in years afterwards. She had been a Cub Scot den mother for 3 1/2 years. She was a member of First Congregational Church. She was a member of the Saginaw Junior League since 1943, serving on its board for several years and as Treasurer for two years. She was still active in the League Sustainers Bridge and Garden Clubs which she helped start. Mrs. Goes enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling and was able to see the world. Surviving are one son, Lyman John Goes, Jr. and his wife Diana W. Goes, Kalamazoo, Michigan, two sisters, Sally O. Spear, Saginaw; Betsy S. Orr, Orlando, Florida; several nieces and nephews. A brother, William Orr, Jr. predeceased her.
Memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church Rev. Dr. Charles Guerreno, Jr. will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case & Company funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Cancer Society of First Congregational Church.

Susan married Lyman John Goes Snr, son of August Goes and Emma M. Versele, on 16 Aug 1940 in Saginaw Township, Saginaw County, Michigan USA.
