• source. Pat Spence who writes: On the Butler property near Tully [called Fringford after the Butler family's home village in Oxfordshire] there is a private cemetery with several family members interred near a large mango tree. The property has now changed hands as there were no surviving members of the family. The graves on 9th August 1991 were arranged in two rows with 5 graves in each row and to identify them I have numbered them 1 to 10. The graves in the small burial ground include: [8] Thomas Butler aged 87 years died 1/6/1948, [9] May Mulreany Butler aged 98 yrs died 11/6/1969, [10] Florence Rhoda Butler aged 75 died 17/5/1970, [3] Thomas Ormand Butler aged 68 died 4/7/1965 Several indigenous people with suggested links to Butler family members are also buried there: [6] John Thomas Grant died 15/8/1961 [1] Mrs Grant mother of John Thomas Grant no date listed. [7] Thomas Ramsay Gardner no date of death listed.
The Butler family's two surviving sons Ashley Butler died 1978 [4 unmarked] and Shirley Butler died 1976 [5 unmarked] are also buried in the same ground. There is also a plaque for Thomas's eldest son Hugh Ramsey Butler [nick-named Rowdy] who died in France near Flers in WW1 in 1916 [at number 2] In August 1991 there were three unmarked graves in total.
Thomas married May Mulreany Miller, daughter of Thomas Barclay Miller and Unknown, in 1891 in Walsh, near Cooktown, Queensland Australia. (May Mulreany Miller was born in May 1870 in Greenoaks via Bowen, Queensland Australia and died on 11 Jun 1969 in Tully, North Queensland Australia.)
