Prince George Jorgen of Denmark & Norway Duke of Cumberland
(1653-1708) |
Prince George Jorgen of Denmark & Norway Duke of Cumberland
Noted events in his life were: • fact. His marriage to Anne was successful, although from 18 pregnancies between 1684 and 1700 only one son, William Duke of Gloucester, survived infancy, only to die of smallpox in 1700 at the age of 11. As with many other members of the royals and nobility, this poor infant survival rate is fairly strong evidence that Prince George suffered from syphillis. Another theory is that Anne passed haemolytic disease of the newborn to her babies (Rhesus disease) George married Anne Darnley Queen of Great Britain & Ireland, daughter of James II Darnley King of England, Scotland & Ireland and Lady Anne Hyde, on 28 Jul 1683 in St James Palace, London England. (Anne Darnley Queen of Great Britain & Ireland was born on 6 Feb 1665 and died on 1 Aug 1714.) |
