William Burton Certificate of Freedom no. 35/0448, 23rd April 1835. "Marquis of Hastings" 1828. SR Ref. 4/4327 film no 994. William was convicted at Norwich, Norfolk Assizes 17th March 1828 and received 7 years and transportation for stealing pidgeons having no previous convictions. He was 19 years of age, Protestant, single; worked as a ploughman; could read and write.
Physical description: Sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes; stood 5 foot eight and a quarter inches; mole corner of left eye. Arrived in Australia 15th October 1828. William was assigned to B. Singleton at Patricks Plains.
Occupation in Australia: Blacksmith
William's brother Thomas also came out as a convict at the same time.

(Elizabeth Smith was born on 26 May 1822 in Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia, christened on 25 Aug 1822 in St Johns, Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia, died on 20 Oct 1859 in Carter's Barracks, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried on 22 Oct 1859 in Camperdown Cemetery, St. Stephens Anglican Church, 189 Church St, Newtown, Sydney, NSW Australia.). The cause of her death was consumption.
