Mary travelled to Sydney on the ship Northampton with her mother who was a convict and her siblings Rebecca and Charles. It sailed from Portsmouth on 1 Jan 1815. The master was John O. Tween. The ship arrived in Sydney on 18 Jun 1815. They were all taken to the female factory at Parramatta. Mary would have been 12 years old on the voyage.

Mary married Henry Gardener on 7 Aug 1822 in St Philips C of E, York St, Sydney, NSW Australia.
