General Notes:
Paul Shurte notes: in Australia there is Dawson's living in Lismore, NSW that are related. In Beenleigh my sister Sharon Haack is also related but neither have done family research however they might help. It is an enigma discovering the family linage but as luck had for me I was able to discuss with Grandmother Mary "Molly" Dawson and Heather "Jean" personally about their life. I tried to record as much as I could and have the data saved in my records. The closest living family blood tie for Amber will be the Noel Tierney family that was living in Bungunya Qld. Noel is the first son born to "Jean" and he was placed in adoption while Jean was bonded like my mother out to work. I never knew bond meant the same as slavery but the employees treaded the bonded girls that way. The WW II allowed those women to become free of the Bond if they severed in a branch of government, married, or turned 21. Jean turned 21 and thought her American gent would marry her but he went AWOL and hid out in the bush with Jean trying to live out the war but we was returned to the US under military escort. His family had money and he was allowed to return to society and I think part of the condition was he had to marry his school sweetheart not some 'fluzzy' escaping the war. I was lucky to have a mom that was Jean's sister. She didn't marry dad but did what was called POD (person of Death) that allowed her to have dad's name. She ended up having 8 of his kids as well and they lived happily in Australia until they both died. Jean, her mother, Molly and my mom eventually returned to being a family that talked to each other but life cut Jean to short a time to have a lot of time with her Mom. I was fortunate both Jean and Granny talked to while I researched my family. I have some good stuff I can share. I think I even have some photos of a few Giles. I understood a few of the Giles ended up working near Ballina NSW - when I was a little boy I used to go and watch them cut up the whales when the Giles still fished the old ways. It was very smelly on the beach but for my brothers and I we loved the adventures.
