• Will. Title: Will of Robert Chance Abbrev: Will of Robert Chance Text: This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert Chance of the Hamlet of Amblecoat in the County of Stafford Miner. First I will and direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and the costs and charges of proving this my will be fully paid and satisfied by my Executrix and Executor hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. And subject to the payment thereof I give and devise All that my freehold Tenement or Dwellinghouses with the brewhouses outbuildings garden ground and appurtenances to the same belonging situate and being at a place called Bottle Lane in the parish of Oldswinford in the County of Worcester and now in the occupation of my son Edward Chance unto my dear wife Sarah Chance and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life without impeachment of waste. And from and immediately after her decease I give and devise to my son John Chance All that my said Tenement or Dwellinghouses with that part of the said garden ground adjoining the same which lies in front thereof containing by admeasurement one hundred and forty superficial square yards or thereabouts as the same is now or is forthwith intended to be staked out and divided from the other part thereof and which is bounded by a public footpath on the South East by land belonging to the Earl of Stamford on the North East, by other part of the said garden ground hereinafter given to my son Edward Chance on the North West and by land of John Pidock Esquire and other part of the said garden ground hereinafter given to my daughter Sarah Chance on the South West To hold to him my said son John Chance his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to the payment of Five pounds apiece to each of my three daughters Phebe now the wife of George Bayliss Mary now the wife of Thomas Gauden and Sarah Chance spinster which I hereby give and bequeath to them accordingly And which said several legacies or sums of Five pounds each I direct shall be paid by my said son John Chance to them my said three several Daughters within three calendar months next after the decease of my said wife And I give and devise unto my said daughter Sarah Chance All that the said brewhouse adjoining my said Tenement or Dwelling house with the small piece of land adjoining the same brewhouse being other part of the said garden and containing in length about seven yards and in breadth about four yards and bounded by the said dwelling house on the North West by other part of the said garden ground hereinbefore given to my said son John Chance on the North East, by the said public footpath on the South East, and by land of Lord Foley on the South West To hold to her my said Daughter Sarah Chance her heirs and assigns for ever. And I give and devise unto my son Edward Chance All that piece or parcel of land being other part of the said garden ground containing Two hundred and sixteen superficial square yards or thereabouts as the same is now or is forthwith intended to be staked out and divided from the other part thereof with the privy thereof erected and which said last mentioned piece of garden ground is bounded by that part of the said garden ground hereinbefore given and devised to my said son John Chance on the South East, by land of the said Earl of Stamford on the North East, by other part of the said garden ground hereinafter given to my son Robert Chance on the North West, and by land of the said John Pidock on the South West To hold to him my said son Edward Chance his heirs and assigns for ever And I give and devise unto my said son Robert Chance All that piece or parcel of land being the remaining part of the said garden ground containing Two hundred and forty superficial square yards or thereabouts and bounded on the South East by the said last mentioned allotment hereinbefore given and devised to my said son Edward Chance, by land of the said Earl of Stamford in the occupation of John Lavender on the North East and North West and by land of the said John Pidock on the South West. To hold to him my said son Robert Chance his heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath the use and enjoyment of my household goods and furniture and of all other my personal estate and effects which shall be in and about the Dwellinghouse which I shall inhabit at the time of my decease unto my said wife Sarah Chance for and during the term of her natural life. And from and after her decease I give and bequeath the same household goods and furniture - personal estate and effects unto and amongst my said three daughters Phebe Mary and Sarah their Executors administrators and assigns equally to be divided between them share and share alike. I nominate and appoint my said wife and my said son Robert Chance executrix and executors of this my will. And hereby revoking all former and other will and wills by me at any time heretobefore made I do declare this only to be my true last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Robert Chance have to this my last will and Testament contained and written in and upon two sheets of paper to the first sheet thereof set my hand and to this second and last sheet thereof my hand and seal this third day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty three.
