Just looking at your web site and spot my third great grandparents, Joseph Burgess & Anne Whitehill. She was the daughter of William Whitehill & Julia Walsh.
Joseph was also a convict, he was from Essex, born circa 1810-1811, he was tried in England for poaching and was sentenced to 7 years and sent to NSW. I think he may of had a brother called George who was also charged for the same offence on the same day, and was also sent to NSW.

• note. Joseph Burgess was born in Essex England in 1811. 7th October 1829 he was sent to Australia aboard the Katherine Stewart Forbes as a convict. In March 1830 he was assigned to James Stare Spearing at Gwynneville in Wollongong. In 1838 he married Mary Ann Whitehill and they resided at Berkeley Estate and had 14 children.
Joseph married Mary Anne (Anne) Whitehill, daughter of William Whitehill and Julia Walsh. (Mary Anne (Anne) Whitehill was born in 1824 in Ireland, died on 31 Mar 1874 in Berkeley, Wollongong, NSW Australia and was buried in Wollongong Cemetery, NSW Australia.)
