  Research Notes:

source: Julie & Gary Stewart who notes:
Anne Whitehill is the daughter of William Whitehill Born in 1794 in Dublin Ireland, Julia Walsh born in 1797, Antrim Belfast, Ireland, they married in 1818 in Dublin, Then William was convicted of stealing cows, was tried and sentenced to 7 years, he was transported to NSW. Julia, Anne & Margaret came later, as they were given a free passage.
Joseph was also a convict, he was from Essex, born circa 1810-1811, he was tried in England for poaching and was sentenced to 7 years and sent to NSW. I think he may of had a brother called George who was also charged for the same offence on the same day, and was also sent to NSW.

William Whitehill was born in 1794 in Dublin, Ireland and married Julia Walsh in 1818. They had two daughters, Margaret and Mary Anne (Anne). William arrived in Australia on the 5th August 1826 aboard the Regalia as a convict for life. William was assigned to Jame Stare Spearing in Wollongong. William received many tickets of leave.

His wife Julia, with the two daughters, arrived Australia 9th March 1833. They settled on the Berkeley Estate, Wollongong, Unanderra, New South Wales and had two further children, one being John Charles. His wife, Julia died on the 8th of December 1839 at Berkeley.

William then married Christian Lewis in 1847 and this is registered in 1849. They then settled in Sydney where they had two daughters, Julia and Ellen, both died in 1855.
Williams, first two daughters remained at Berkeley and John Francis relocated to the state of Victoria.

William died in 1856 in Sydney and was buried at the Scotch Section of the Devonshire Street Cemetery, where Central Station now stands. In 1901, the cemetery was resumed to allow for the development of Central railway station, Sydney and representatives of deceased persons buried in the Devonshire Street cemetery were given two months to arrange for exhumation and removal of remains.

Illawarra history records state that "William was NOT removed".

William married Julia Walsh in 1818 in Dublin, Eire, Ireland UK. (Julia Walsh was born in 1797 in Antrim, County Antrim Northern Ireland, died on 8 Dec 1839 in Berkeley, Wollongong, NSW Australia and was buried in Wollongong Pioneer Park, Wollongong, NSW Australia.)
