General Notes:
Calvin Warby notes: It is likely that Benjamin Warby born in 1825 is descended from John Warby who was sent to Australia in the late 1700's as a convict. He became a famous constable in the Campbelltown area. The Warby Range, the Warby Swamp Gum tree and the Warby-Ovens national Park were named after him. My ancestor, James Warby (1785) and his son, James Warby (1822) emigrated to Australia in 1839. I have worked with the descendants of John Warby trying to find a connection, but there is disagreement and uncertainty as to who John Warby's parents were. One of the difficulties faced is that two different sources (I think it was a census and his death certificate) indicate several years difference in the year of his birth. That, along with the commonality of the name John Warby to the communities near Cottered, Hertfordshire, England, makes determining his parents difficult.
