There is a Sherburn Marriage Entry for a Jane Ashton, daughter of Jo hn - to Thomas Stott, 7.6.1862, in a double ceremony with her sister Ma ry (Stead). This does appear to have been the first marriage of Jane Ashto n, however I can't find either Jane Stott or Thomas Stott in the 1881 c, so the Marshall marriage could well be a SECOND marriage - all to be pr oved.
