  General Notes:

Lyn Millington notes:
Frederick Draper was the son of William Draper and Maria Rowley and became a Silk and Leather Merchant like his father in Islington London. His wife Maria Rowley's father, Thomas Rowley and family were prominent coach builders in London.
Frederick first married Matilda Bawn in 1850 at Poplar, Middlesex, England. Matilda gave birth to a daughter, Matilda Caroline Draper in 1851. His wife Matilda died four years later in 1854 after the birth of their daughter.
After this he then married Elizabeth Draper in 1855 at St. George Bloomsbury London England.
In 1856 they decided to come to Australia not long after their marriage arriving Melbourne Victoria along with Frederick's daughter Matilda Caroline. Anne Ellen (always known as Annie) was their first child being born October 1856 at East Collingwood, Victoria. A brother Frederick William Oliver Draper was next born in 1859 at Mansfield, Victoria.
After this they must have decided to move after this as we see their next child Lucy Maria Toynbee born at Maitland NSW in 1861. Another son Benjamin Smedley Draper was born 1863 at Maitland.
After settling at Maitland Frederick set up a Drapery shop there and Elizabeth and her sister Lucy Whysall set up a Lady's Academy teaching English in all its forms, Geography, Grammar, Writing and Arithmetic along with Music.
Frederick's wife, Elizabeth died in October 1868 at Maitland and Frederick was left with a young family, the youngest being only 5 years of age. It is most likely that Lucy Whysall, Elizabeth's sister who had also immigrated out to Australia and living up Maitland way may have help with the children. Frederick was quite strickened and never really got over his loss. Sometime after 1882 Frederick must have decided to move to Wollongong with his son Frederick William Oliver Draper, where he died at Clifton in 1889.

Frederick married Elizabeth Smedley on 12 Jul 1855 in St George, Bloomsbury, London, Middlesex England. (Elizabeth Smedley was born on 24 Jan 1836 in Alfreton, Derbyshire England and died on 2 Oct 1868 in West Maitland, NSW Australia.)

Frederick next married Matilda Bawn in 1850 in Poplar, London, Middlesex England. (Matilda Bawn was born circa 1820 and died in 1855.)
