According to his Death Certificate (1876/410), Patrick died at the home of his daughter, Rose, in Nicholson Street, Footscray. The caused of death were listed as "chronic abcess on prostate and congestion of brain". Buried in Section 1K of the Catholic Section, Keilor Cemetery. Mass said by Fr Moran.

Your "thetreeofus" site was most interesting and I notice that most of those Keighrans belonged to James' family. I have a copy of his marriage to Eleanor Layton in 1837 in St. Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, where both John & Patrick were married. Patrick married Judith Bent in St. Mary's in 1828. • fact. According to Stephen Lidd he had a race horse in the first Melbourne Cup. He also won the first Ballarat Cup. Lorna Sharf adds these comments to the above: Patrick Keighran was owner/part owner of a horse called MORMON 2nd to the 1st and 2nd Melbourne Cup Winner Archer 1861 and 1862. MORMON won the coveted Champion Stakes 1861 and 1864 and was 2nd in 1863 when Archer filled 3rd place. Also owned/part owned the 1st Ballarat Cup winner with a horse called PLAYBOY 1864
