Emigrated to Australia in 1860 on the Lady McDonald with Elizabeth and Charles, his son. • Occupation. joiner upon emigration, presumably having been taught the carpentry trade by his father Edwin. He also helpd the liquor licence for the Criterion Hotel in Nelson St Plattsburg (later Wallsend) in 1884, 1885, 1892, 1893 and 1894. He also worked as a carpenter and later as an undertaker, making coffins. Joseph married Elizabeth Crowley on 25 Apr 1859 in North Harbourne ? Staffordshire England. (Elizabeth Crowley was born circa 1838, died on 21 Oct 1877 in Wallsend, Newcastle, NSW Australia and was buried in Old Wallsend cemetery, NSW Australia.) |
