Research Notes:
Chris Harkin notes: I have had some interest in the Hans Nielsen story and subsequent ancestors of him. I may have some information as my mother was Kathleen Nielsen, (Harkin) her father was George Nielsen one of the sons of Hans. We still have the family home just above Hans old home location at Fassifern. In regards to Anders Nielsens grave. He was George's half brother who came to Australia prior to George if you didn't know already. He met him in Maryborough as the older sibling. George was his benefactor at his early death at 33yrs. Some money must of been sent back to Denmark but the rest George was able to purchase land, animals and be quite successful throughout his days. Some info I have maybe conjecture but seems the most plausible. The family Home built by George Nielsen and wife Margaret Therese McGrath in roughly 1929. Hans Nielsen is pictured in the local Museum Templin. I don't have the photo at the moment but can get it. Hans also built the Kalbar, (Englesburg) pub with his wife Mitilda in 1900. A Local lady who was interested in the history of the area wrote a book in relation to the people On Mullers Road where the house is located in Fassifern.
