• fact. Joseph was given the freehold messuage etc. of Carthew in Wendron, Cornwall in his father's Will. He later moved to Tregoose in Sithney, Cornwall. 4 of Joseph and Susannah's children died August / September 1797. They are buried together and next to their parents at Sithney graveyard, their headstone reads - In Memory Of Richard, Thomas, John and Walter Sons of Joseph & Susanna Reed Richard died 27th Aug aged 15 years Thomas died 30th Aug aged 6 years John died 6th Sept aged 7 months Walter died 17th Sept aged 10 years All in the year 1797 Behold these silent graves They do contain four loving brothers Who died free from pain. O, they were all affection could desire. All duty as'ed all parents could receive. Forbear dear friends weep not ours in vain Where heaven decrees its folly to complain. Joseph died aged 80 and is buried at Sithney graveyard where he shares a grave with his wife Susanna and children Mary, Joseph and Elizabeth. The inscription on their headstone reads - Here lie the mortal remains of Joseph Reed Who departed this life on The 29th day of Jan 1833 Aged 80 years And of Susanna His wife who departed this life on The 9th day of Oct 1839 Aged 85 years. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes And there shall be no more death, Neither sorrow nor crying neither shall there be any more pain; Or the former things are passed away. Rev XXI 4 Also of Mary their daughter Who died April 20th 1869 Aged 69 years And of their son Joseph Who died May 9th 1870 Aged 85 years And of Elizabeth their daughter Who died 30th May 1875 Aged 81 years

Joseph married Susannah Gundry, daughter of Henry Gundry and Elizabeth Roberts, on 26 Oct 1778 in Wendron, Cornwall England. (Susannah Gundry was born on 19 May 1754 in Helston, Cornwall England, died on 9 Oct 1839 in Sithney, Cornwall England and was buried in Sithney, Cornwall England.)
