  General Notes:

Ann Jackman notes:
Ida Emma Ernst, my grandmother, was born on 27th October 1881 at Heidelberg, Prussia, and came to Australia at the age of four years. She is registered on the shipping list as "Anna". She was enrolled at Marburg State School in 1890. A gentle and generous woman, she had a wonderful sense of humour and an engaging chuckle which seems to have been inherited by various members of her extended family. As the wife of a parliamentarian, she was often away from home attending official functions such as the Opening of Parliament, as well as the many activities in the district to which she was invited. She was called upon to judge the costumes at a Humorous Fancy Dress Party held in aid of the Marburg Agricultural and Industrial Association in 1930 and to be one of the judges at the Convent Ball the following year. Thus the younger children quickly learned self-reliance. Often the parents would not return till the late train and Kara & Mervyn Cooper would meet them at the station with a lantern to light their way up the hill.

Ida married William Cooper, son of Henry John Cooper and Jane Elizabeth Chafe, on 1 Jan 1902 in All Saints C of E, Marburg, Queensland Australia. (William Cooper was born on 10 Mar 1868 in Dunmore Estate, Hunter Valley, NSW Australia, died on 29 Nov 1957 in Ipswich, Queensland Australia and was buried in Marburg, Queensland Australia.)
