We have always been told that Robert Thomson was born in Scotland as was Lady Caroline Frances Lediard who was from Blair Atholl. She was disowned by her family for marrying beneath her. I believe there is documentation to support both stories.
There are other references to both having been born in England, not Scotland.

Caroline married Robert Thomson, son of David Thomson and Anne Fowle, on 28 Dec 1813 in St James, Piccadilly, London England. (Robert Thomson was born on 21 Jan 1794 in Teston, Kent England and died on 11 Jan 1865 in Kangaroo Island, South Australia.)
