Noted events in his life were:

• source. 358 & Drew Evans who notes:
Your Rowland Evans had a son, Thomas Evans born in 1788. I believe that the source of your information for this was the LDS transcription of the records of Pentretygwyn, Babel, etc. My GGG grandfather, Joseph Evans (Sr.) was born in 1816. Although Joseph was working at Pannau, Rhandirmwyn in 1838 when he married (which is about 2 1/2 to 3 kilometers northwest of the LDS transcribed non-conformist churches, there is quite a bit of (circumstantial) evidence that my Evanses came from the River Afon area which is where these churches (and also the Church of Llanfairarybryn where Joseph himself was married) are located. Joseph's wife's sister Mary (Jones) Thomas had most of her children baptised at these same nonconformist churches.

In the early 1800s, there was a Thomas Evans living at Penylan farm, in the right location by the River Afon (near the Cynghordy viaduct.

When Joseph Evans died at Troedrhiwfallen farm of dropsy (probably encephelitis TB) at age 35 in 1850, John Evans was present. Rowland's son, John Evans would have been 65 at this time but may have assisted if Thomas Evans was unavailable or deceased.

One of Thomas Evans' sons (ie. one of Joseph Evans' brothers) had a son David Evans. This is believed to be the David Evans present at the death of my GG grandmother Sarah (Edwards) Evans of TB at age 31 in ~1881 (identified as her cousin but actually her deceased husband Samuel's cousin), and possibly, the same David Evans, father of the Anne Evans working at Pentrehedin (also in the River Afon area) who married William Davies in 1894. This Anne Evans' groom, William Davies, lived in the same building in Cilycwm (Tynewydd/Dolgoy Villa) as my GG grandmother, Elizabeth Jones. There was a David Evans farming at Tascon farm (nearby Penylan) at this time but there were also other David Evanses in the same area, at the same time.

In piecing together the Evans geneology, I've made many educated guesses and assumptions. Some have proven out and others have been revised or discarded but, over time, the corroborated history has grown substantially.

A relationship to your Rowland Evans family tree remains speculative at this time. All that is known so far is that these Evanses appear to have been in the same place at the same time with some of the same given names.

Drew Evans later commented:
As indicated below, my GGG grandfather, Joseph Evans, age 24, was married in 1838 to Rachel Jones, age 34, of Troedrhiwafallen, Rhandirmwyn, Llandovery (Parish of Llanfairarybryn). They were married in the Church of Llanfairarybryn following banns. (I wouldn't place too much confidence in the exact ages stated, as Joseph may have been slightly younger and Rachel was probably a bit older!)
Joseph's father, my GGGG grandfather, was stated on the marriage registration to be Thomas Evans, labourer.
In your family tree, you have a Rowland Evans of Llanfairarybryn, who had a son, Thomas Evans, christened on September 10, 1788. I have speculated that this may be my GGGG grandfather (based on the circumstantial evidence of extensive family relationships with various properties in the vicinity of the Afon Bran (Crow River) area), and that this may also be the Thomas Evans who resided at Penylan, a property near the Afon Bran and within sight of the Cynghordy aqueduct (about 3 km southeast of Troedrhiwafallen) through the early and mid 1800s. The Thomas Evans at Penylan had a wife, Elinor. The records of the Church of Llanfairarybryn (at www.freereg.org <http://www.freereg.org>) (which I believe contains the records of the Parish Church and a couple of nearby chapels, Babel and Pentre-Ty-Gwyn), below show a Thomas Evans and an Elinor Jones being married on December 03, 1814. I have also speculated that David Evans of Tascon may be a relation.

You have previously excerpted some of these speculations in your bio of Rowland Evans at: <http://www.thetreeofus.net/2/48572.htm>
MY GGGG grandfather, Samuel Evans, and his wife Anne, of Troedrhiwafallen had at least two children that I know of, Rachel and Mary, however there were (probably) others (I believe that Rachel was born in 1802 and Mary was born in 1804). The marriage of Mary Jones to John Thomas on July 18, 1828 and the baptism of several of their children are also in the records of the Church of Llanfairarybryn (source LDS).
Interestingly, the records of the Church of Llanfairarybryn below show a Samuel Jones and an Anne Williams being married on July 12, 1794.

Still a work in progress.

He also added:
Anne (Evans) Richards (1847-1872) was the sister of my GG grandfather, Samuel Evans (1844-1880) of Troedrhiwafallen, and the daughter of my GGG grandparents, Rachel (Jones) Evans (1802-1895) and Joseph Evans (1814-1850) of Troedrhiwafallen.
There is increasing support for the notion that the Evanses of Troedrhiwafallen were connected with (the original St. Mary's) Church of Llanfairarybryn and the Afon Bran area. My GGG grandmother, Rachel (Jones) Evans and GGG grandfather, Joseph Evans were married at the Church of Llanfairarybryn in 1838.
Anne (Evans) Richards is the GG grandmother of Marilyn Rees and the G grandmother of Margaret Copley.
I have a copy of the GRO for the Marriage of William Richards, 23, bachelor, miner, Blaenwain, Llanfairarybryn and Anne Evans, 23, spinster, Troedrhiwfallen, Llanfairarybryn, July 30, 1870.
I have a copy of the GRO for the Death of Anne (Evans) Richards, 26, "widow" of William Richards, lead miner, Broncurt, Rhandir Abbott, Phthisis, Isaac Richards (15-year old, younger brother of William) present at death, September 14, 1872.
I have a copy of the GRO for the birth of Rachel Richards, Broncurt, Rhandir Abbott, William Richards father, Anne Richards ((formerly Thomas) - this is incorrect as Anne was an Evans, and the confusion is because her first cousins, Samuel Thomas and Rachel Thomas (brother and sister) were the occupants of the cottage on the Blaenwaun property (the Richards family lived in the main residence)), July 28, 1872. The Richards' family Bible says that Rachel Anne was born July 29, 1872.
William Richards was not deceased at this time, and passed away at Blaenywaun from kidney problems in 1889, aged 43 and is buried at St. Barnabas Church, Rhandirmwyn.
Rachel Anne Richards passed away at Blaenywaun from puerperal eclampsia in 1900, aged 28 and is buried at St. Barnabas Church, Rhandirmwyn.
