(We have now discovered the family under the name of Barkby and feel that the name got changed when they moved over to Staffordshire.) We did find a family of Barkby living in Bedworth at the right time and they did in fact have a son John born around the right time but he appears to have married someone other than Sarah Davies, so we have discounted this. 1851 Census for Queen Street, Princes End, Sedgley, Wolverhampton,Staffs. (HO107/2031 Page No.237 of Schedule No.1. Found - John Bagby - Head 56 yrs Coalminer - Born Warwickshire, Bedworth. Sarah " - Wife 55 yrs - - Worcs. Dudley. Job - Son 25 yrs - Staffordshire (unmarried) Thomas - Son 21 yrs Coalminer - Staffordshire " Hannah - Daur 18 yrs D/maker - " " John - Son 16 yrs Under illeg. " " pudler. Martha - Daur 13 yrs Scholar - " " Catherine - Daur 7 yrs " - " " 1861 Census for Queen Street, Princes End, checked but no Bagby family found. Whole Family found Darlaston - 1861 - LDS Film No.50025 Sutton ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found on Staffordshire Burial Index (BMSGH)- Martha Bagby, aged 2 yrs and l month, Coseley. April 19th 1831. (This may be another child) Memorial Inscription - Christ Church Coseley Found by the main gate at Christ Church Coseley. Sacred to the memory of John Bagbey, who died April 29th 1832 (should be 1862) Aged 66. Also of Sarah Bagbey, wife of the above who died March 20th 1863 Aged 67 In memory of Catherine, wife of Emmanuel Roberts and daughter of John and Sarah who died May 6th 1879 Aged 36 Also Jacob Trayloe of Fallings Heath, Wednesbury, son in law of John and Sarah, who died May 3lst 1893 Aged 70. Sacred to the memory of Elizabeth daughter of Thomas and Martha (nee Harper) who died Nov 22nd 1861 1 yr 3 months. Thomas Bagbey Darlaston who died May 19th 1889 aged 39 husband of Violet Bagbey who died May 4th 1925 62 yrs. Also James son of Thomas and Emma who died December 27th 1841 Aged 6 yrs 3 months. (Thomas and Emma Wall were not married until 1852, so I think there must be an error in stating 1841 here. Unless it is a different couple?) Also attached Stone in memory of John Aston who was killed by explosion at Mill Field Iron Works April 15th 1862 aged 34 years.
