Noted events in his life were:
• source. Yvonne Anderson (nee Hodkin) who wrote about him: No: 641 page 81 in Parish Register No: 641 Page 81 in Parish Register John HODKIN Jnr Head M 32 Coal Hewer worker born Barlborough he had a piece of corn in his mouth for 35 years. When he died they found tins with crown soveriegns. Beff went to sheffield to a big hotel with Fred Preistley for a meal with friends (he did'nt go out very often to wear a suit) The waitress came round and was setting the cutlery and sideplates and she asked Beff if he would like a serviette, He asked his freind "ah tha having one" his friend reply was "yes" Uncle Beff then said "well if tha can ate one so can I". I think his proper name was John as there is a John on the 1901 census born approx 1900, and Jack is a nickname for John. Chewed dried peas all the time. He bought a car when Uncle Stan was about 16 a new one but he could'nt drive. He let someone drive to bottom of the lane but that's all. He had quite a bit of money but did'nt spend much. He died in the old hospital at Balborough.
