Thomas Chafe was born in 1796 at Petty Harbour. He died in 1854 aged about 58. The Revd Frederic H Carrington married Thomas Chafe and his cousin, Ann Chafe, at the old Cathedral of St John the Baptist (which was burnt down in a disastrous fire that engulfed much of the old city) on 1 January 1822, witnesses being Rosanna Chafe and Thomas Lee, husband of Sarah Chafe [whom he married on 21 May 1823 at St John's].

Ann married Thomas Chafe, son of Edward Chafe and Mary Bidgood, on 1 Jan 1822 in St Johns, Newfoundland Canada. (Thomas Chafe was born circa 1796 in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland Canada and died on 22 Nov 1854.)
